After our inaugural Open House, our team sat down with Haselden Montana Constructors President Dan Bates to get his insights on Haselden’s expansion and what he is looking forward to as we continue to put down roots in the state:

Why did Haselden Choose Montana for their expansion?

With Haselden’s continued growth, especially over the last decade, our goals have begun to stretch beyond what the Colorado and Wyoming Market can support. We have carefully considered many potential locations, but after our research, Montana emerged as a natural fit for our organization. The Montana market is growing allowing us to establish a presence with a sustainable backlog. Not only is there an ample market share, but the markets across Montana align with Haselden’s core experience across higher education, healthcare, K-12 education, and mountain resort construction.

What experience do you bring to Haselden Montana Constructors?

I’m incredibly honored to help lead the expansion into Montana. As a Project Manager and Senior Preconstruction Manager, I had the privilege of working on some of our most complex and rewarding projects. Over the years, I’ve learned the value of fostering strong client relationships, a commitment that I bring with me to Montana. This role is an exciting new chapter for me, personally and professionally. My experience in both operations and preconstruction has provided me with a deep understanding of the critical early phases of a project—where partnerships with clients, architects, and subcontractors truly make a difference.

How is Haselden Montana Constructors approaching the Montana Market?

Partnerships are the cornerstone of a great project, and in turn a great builder. They will be key to this expansion’s success, and we have already begun to build the foundations for lasting relationships across Montana. We have established connections with several owners, architects, and subcontractors and are eager to continue to provide value. Our approach will be to serve the Montana community in the same way we have served Colorado for the past 51 years. We aren’t looking to Montana as a simple way to grow our bottom line, but rather a new and vibrant region that we can call home.

What are you most excited about for the future of Haselden Montana Constructors?

Haselden’s expansion into Montana is a new step for growth across our business and our people. We are looking forward to the opportunities it will provide for existing business units to expand, as well as new leadership opportunities for our team. Though we have already begun to build new relationships in the state, we are excited to continue this outreach to both new and established partners.

Haselden Montana Constructors will continue to bring the sophistication, collaboration, and excellence Haselden is known for to the State of Montana, continuing the 50+ year legacy Haselden Construction has built. I am committed to continuing to champion Haselden’s values and tradition of outstanding projects while embracing the unique needs and expectations of this region.
