Haselden Construction Takes 2nd at the AGC Construction Safety Excellence Awards

At Haselden Construction, safety is more than a set of rules we follow: it is an essential part of our culture. Every single day, our teams work tirelessly to ensure that everyone on our jobsites returns home safely to their families.

That is why we are thrilled to announce that the Haselden Safety Team took 2nd Place at this year’s Associated General Contractors of America (AGC) Construction Safety Excellence Awards (CSEA). This is an arduous evaluation process, and we are incredibly proud that our team excelled on this competitive national stage.

What are the AGC CSEA Awards?

The CSEA program is the most prestigious national recognition a construction company can receive for its safety performance. Unlike typical safety awards that only look at baseline incident rates, the CSEA selection process is deeply comprehensive.

To evaluate a company’s holistic safety culture, the application process requires extensive documentation. In fact, Haselden’s comprehensive submission this year totaled an impressive 62 pages, providing evidence of excellence in:

  • Company Management Commitment: How leadership drives safety initiatives.

  • Active Employee Participation: Empowering field staff to take ownership of safety.

  • Rigorous Safety Training: Continuous education and skill-building.

  • Worksite Hazard Identification: Proactive risk control and mitigation.

  • Safety Program Innovation: Finding new, smarter ways to protect workers.

Once submitted, a volunteer judging team from the national AGC Safety & Health Committee reviews the entries. Only the top three finalists in each division are invited to the AGC Annual Convention to compete in person. There, finalists must give an oral presentation in front of a panel of five judges to determine 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Driving Innovation in 2026

This year’s submission showcased Haselden’s evolving, forward-thinking approach to risk management. Our application emphasized how we translate high-level strategic planning into tangible results. A key highlight was the introduction of our Safety Excellence Inspection (SEI) and Environmental Excellence Inspection (EEI) programs, which require top management to be directly embedded in field audits and mentorship. The submission also underscored our top-down corporate commitment, highlighting that safety is consistently the very first agenda item in our weekly enterprise leadership meetings, ensuring it remains integral to every business decision we make.

A Legacy of Safety Leadership

Haselden Construction is no stranger to the national podium. Over the years, our safety program has been recognized by the CSEA 10 times, building a sustained legacy of excellence:

  • 3 First-Place Finishes (2018, and two prior)

  • 5 Second-Place Finishes (2020, 2026, and three prior)

  • 2 Third-Place Finishes (2023, and one prior)

(Note: Winning 1st place also puts a company in the running for the coveted Grand Award, the highest honor in the industry).

Leadership Spotlight: Travis Weber

A massive driver of this sustained excellence is Travis Weber, Haselden’s Senior Director of Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S). Since joining Haselden Construction in 2015, Travis has not only elevated our internal safety culture but has also become a leading voice for safety on a national scale.

Since 2020, Travis has dedicated his time to advancing industry standards on a national level. He volunteers on both the AGC National Safety Committee and its National Safety Steering Committee. Additionally, as a member of the CSEA awards team, he serves as a volunteer judge for the rigorous preliminary rounds of the competition, bringing elite-level industry insight back to Haselden’s own safety programs. His dedication ensures that Haselden Construction remains at the absolute forefront of industry best practices.

A Continuous Commitment to Safety Excellence

Our success at the CSEA awards is mirrored by our ongoing achievements and partnerships across other major safety and environmental programs:

  • AGC/OSHA CHASE Blue Level Participant: Since 2020, Haselden Construction has consistently maintained “Blue Level” status—the highest tier possible—in this elite national safety partnership.

  • Colorado Stormwater Excellence Program (CSEP): Haselden Construction has been a qualified member of the CSEP for 13 years (since 2013), receiving a recognition plaque every consecutive year since 2020 for our environmental stewardship.

Thank You to Our Teams

This national recognition belongs to every superintendent, project manager, laborer, and trade partner on a Haselden Construction jobsite. Thank you for choosing to make safety your priority every single day.
