Haselden Construction Wins Three 2026 ENR Top Project Awards
Engineering News-Record (ENR) has named Haselden Construction a triple Award of Merit recipient in its 2026 Mountain/Southwest Top Projects awards. Haselden achieved a perfect recognition rate for the year, with all three of its submitted projects earning top honors across three distinct categories.
ENR’s annual Regional Top Projects competition evaluates the premier design and construction achievements across Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, and New Mexico. An independent panel of industry experts judges entries on safety performance, technical innovation, execution amidst complex site challenges, construction quality, and community impact. ENR’s Award of Merit serves as the region’s second-highest industry honor.
Haselden Construction’s 2026 Award-Winning Projects
Medical Center of the Rockies Addition & Expansion (Healthcare Category)
To support Northern Colorado’s rapid growth, Haselden delivered a multi-phase, 290,000-square-foot addition and renovation while keeping the region’s only Level 1 Trauma Center fully operational. The scope features a five-story bed tower with 96 patient rooms, expanded emergency facilities, a catheterization lab built above an active loading dock, and upgraded imaging suites. The team utilized Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) utility modeling, innovative shotcrete structural walls, and strict ICRA containment protocols to maintain safety and secure $780,000 in value engineering savings.

Gypsum Early Learning Center and Employee Housing (K-12 Education Category)
Built as a joint venture with RA Nelson, this project directly addresses critical mountain-community affordability challenges. Spanning a 20-acre site, the development includes a 50,000-square-foot early childhood learning center alongside two residential buildings providing 40 below-market apartments for Eagle County School District personnel. The joint venture team navigated high groundwater levels, wetland infrastructure tie-ins, and complex plumbing re-configurations to deliver a budget-conscious community asset on schedule.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science East Plaza Renovation (Cultural/Worship Category)
Blending modern visitor amenities with historic preservation, this project restored original 1930s masonry, terrazzo, and plasterwork while introducing interactive outdoor shade pavilions and a custom Milky Way star map ceiling. Utilizing high-precision 3D VDC laser scanning to replicate historic architecture, Haselden safely managed public museum traffic, coordinated around City Park events, and maintained continuous environmental controls to protect 3,000-year-old artifacts in adjacent active exhibits.

“Earning ENR recognition across each project we submitted speaks directly to the craftsmanship, safety culture, and collaborative spirit of our project teams,” said Byron Haselden, CEO & President of Haselden Construction. “These three projects represent our diversified portfolio of Healthcare, K-12, Employee Housing, and Municipal. Across every project, our focus remains on delivering lasting value for our customers.”
Haselden and its project partners will be formally recognized during the ENR Mountain/Southwest Regional Best Projects Awards ceremony on December 4, 2026, in Denver.
