Introducing Our Wood-Framing Division with Haselden Builders

At Haselden Builders, our mission has always been to deliver excellence through smarter building practices, tailored solutions, and a deep respect for our clients’ priorities. With that in mind, we are proud to announce the launch of our self-perform wood-framing division, a move that strengthens our ability to manage project outcomes with even greater efficiency, quality, and reliability.

Framing is a critical part of any structure, and by bringing this scope in-house, we are enhancing our ability to uphold schedules, protect budgets, and ensure consistency across the board. Our decision to self-perform wood framing stems from a desire to better control one of the largest and most schedule-sensitive trades on a project. Wood framing influences the entire construction sequence, affecting everything from inspections and finishes to the timelines of all downstream trades. By internalizing this function, we can execute framing with greater confidence and predictability.

A key component of our approach is the integration of a dedicated superintendent focused solely on wood framing. This role provides strategic oversight, ensuring volume is managed correctly and production remains aligned with the overall master schedule. This individual keeps a close pulse on quality and progress, allowing us to respond quickly to any field adjustments without compromising pace or craftsmanship.

Moreover, it will give us the ability to adapt to project demands with greater agility. We can selectively manage portions of the work, scale manpower as needed, and make critical adjustments during preconstruction and execution, which provides flexibility not always possible with traditional subcontractor-only models. One of the most significant advantages of self-performing wood framing is the ability to proactively manage both cost and schedule with greater precision. Framing is often where projects experience unforeseen delays or quality issues that cascade into the later phases of construction. By taking ownership of this scope, we can plan, monitor, and execute the work in a way that minimizes disruption and maximizes efficiency.

Because we control both the labor force and the framing sequence, we can more accurately dictate when crews arrive, how they’re deployed, and how the work integrates into the master schedule. This allows us to address challenges during preconstruction long before they reach the field. Contingency costs are often consumed at the back end of a project due to framing-related issues, whether that’s correcting out-of-plumb walls, adjusting inconsistent stud spacing, or managing the shrinkage and settling that naturally occur in wood. Our crews are trained to prevent these problems from the outset.

While we are excited about this capability, our intent is not to replace our valued subcontracting partners. Instead, it’s to complement and enhance the relationships we’ve built with framing crews throughout the region. We remain committed to partnering with the best subcontractors and recognize that every project has unique needs. By understanding the volume of work and building deeper familiarity with the trades, we aim to work more collaboratively with our framing partners, ensuring stronger communication, smoother coordination, and a shared standard of excellence. This division enables us to be more strategic in how we approach the framing scope. Our focus will be on selecting the right mix of self-performed and subcontracted work based on what delivers the best result for the client.

We’re excited to take this next step and continue growing alongside our clients and partners. The launch of our self-perform wood framing division reflects our ongoing commitment to collaboration, quality, and building strong relationships across the industry.
