Haselden Construction Completes Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute in Roaring Fork Valley
The new Steadman Clinic and Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) will bring world-class orthopedic care closer to the residents of the Roaring Fork Valley and inspire cutting-edge work on the causes, treatment, and prevention of orthopedic disorders. Construction of the new 65,000 square foot facility was completed in spring of 2022 and officially opened in mid-April after a ribbon cutting celebration in partnership with Haselden Construction, general contractor, and Boulder Associates and Remedy Partners.
The world-renowned space houses MRI facilities, an ambulatory surgery center with four operating rooms (with the option to expand to six), a procedure room, nine pre-op and post-op rooms, 14 total recovery rooms, 16 exam rooms, offices, and space for the Steadman Philippon Research Institute.
To fit the building, along with its required parking, on the three-quarter acre site, the clinic sits atop two levels of underground parking. Because of the small footprint, the floorplates were smaller than usual requiring a creative solution for concealing mechanical systems. The owner ultimately chose to house the systems in the parking garage, keeping them out of view of patients and staff.
Dedicated to the community inside and out, the project also developed the community park as part of the owner’s partnership with Basalt. Designed to blend indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly, the park is the perfect transition to the lobby highlighting the importance of the outdoors to overall wellness.
Despite covid-protocols, supply chain delays, and harsh mountain conditions Haselden delivered the project on-time and within budget.
