Haselden constructed the new 149,436 SF medical office building for the UCHealth Steadman Hawkins Clinic Denver and CU Sports Medicine facility located off of Inverness Drive in Englewood. The new facility provides a robust sports performance program including physical and occupational therapy, surgeries, imaging, and clinic appointments.
The project included 45,000 SF of shelled space, 90,000 SF of medical offices and a surgery center, four operating rooms with additional treatment facilities, orthopedic clinic rooms, advanced imaging including MRI and radiology, state-of-the-art rehabilitation and sports performance training center, and a human motion analytics center for performance and injury prevention training. In addition, this project also includes a separate above-ground, 162,240 SF, 3-story parking garage.
Unique Challenges
The large shoring wall on the West side of the project site was originally designed with a soil nail shoring system. Haselden completed investigation and discovered that soil nails couldn’t be used because they would penetrate adjacent utilities and would also encroach in the CDOT easement. Haselden redesigned the shoring system with the subcontractor to adapt to a hybrid shoring system that would not penetrate the adjacent utilities or encroach in the CDOT easement.
